Classification

Classification of goods is a major determinate of the duties that your company would pay to Customs on importation.

It is your responsibility as the importer or exporter to make sure goods are properly classified. If you employ an agent to handle your Customs entries on your behalf how do you know they have classified your products properly?

If products are classified incorrectly and you underpay duty, customs can request the money owed for all the transactions up to the last three years.

Also if your goods are classified incorrectly and results in overpayment you can recover the duty for all transactions up to the last three years.
